healthy finds at costco

costco

I am obsessed with Costco. It is a wonderful, amazing place. I know that they have amazing pizza, cookies, and other treats and sweets. But there are also some really great and healthy things that you can find at Costco.

Salad Greens

Sure. This box looks like an insane quantity. Until you realize that it is half the cost of the normal size at the market. So even if you don’t eat it all, you’re still definitely saving money.

Organic Chicken & Organic Ground Beef

Costco has great packs of chicken that is perfect to put right in the freezer since it is individually vacuum-sealed in normal portions. The same is true for organic ground beef. You may also be able to find ground bison meat (depending on availability).

Wild-Caught Fish

You do have to be careful and search through the fish to make sure that you get wild-caught (if that’s important to you). But when you find it, it’s like hitting the lottery. It’s always significantly cheaper than the supermarket (even on sale). To make sure that it doesn’t go to waste, I make sure to cut into individual portions and put in freezer bags right when I get home.

Shrimp Cocktail

I love getting a package of shrimp cocktail at Costco and keeping it around to munch on for a day or two. They also make a great salad topping for an easy lunch. I could probably eat almost an entire one in a single sitting. 🙂

Rotisserie Chicken

Costco makes amazing rotisserie chicken that is always available. It’s such a bargain because I am able to turn the single chicken into 6 (or more) servings making each serving cost less than a dollar. Plus it’s ready to go and can be easily thrown onto a salad for a quick and healthy lunch.

Spices

Costco has the lowest prices on spices that I have ever seen. It’s great for keeping at the office or if you have roommates so you don’t mind giving some away.

What are some of your favorite things to get from Costco (healthy or otherwise)?

  1. Frozen fruit for smoothies! Tzatziki (great as a veggie dip or chicken gyro sauce). Sandwich thins. I’m a big fan of string cheese as a snack. I have others…I just can’t think of them right now 🙂

  2. Costco has the best tzatziki sauce and bruschetta (both Hannah’s). It’s the only place I can seem to find it.
